Angry iPod USB interface in 2010 models

Horrible! Selecting an album is cumbersome. There isn't any way to jump directly to a letter in the alphabet like there is with the phonebook, so you have to manually scroll through each page of albums. I've got 300+ albums on my iPod Touch, so this takes forever. Each time you scroll a page, it automatically starts playing the album at the top of the list and prevents you from scrolling to the next page for a few seconds. This is annoying as hell.

Anybody else notice the same issue? Is there a workaround anybody knows about?

I hope to God Lexus fixes this. It is sooo annoying. I created several diff playlists just so I could avoid scrolling through the other way.

Yeah, that helps a bit, but you have to guess where the album you are looking for might be, and it still does the annoying autoplay.

But yeah, that's definitely easier than scrolling with the touchscreen.

Totally agree, the interface is so horribly pathetic there's no point in using it for me. Also weird is when scrolling through songs first it only shows like 6 tracks at a time theb every page u scroll takes 2-5 seconds and it starts playing the song at the top automatically.

A horrible embarassment to the lexus name.. maybe they don't use ipods in japan?

and your point is? i would most definitely expect a lot of them just purchased the car.

to me that shows how much people don't like the system and that the lexus system is pretty primitive. a lot of people i know they are not very impressed with the ipod integration

Lexus nav system has sucked out loud for the entire run of the 2IS, only in 2010 catching up to features Garmins (or even Infinitis nav) had years ago...it's unsurprising their first-gen integrated ipod support would suck too.

Whoever does entertainment/info systems integration at Lexus needs to be replaced.

you can't rip cd's to the harddrive? i think my fd's C350 can do that, as well as the G35/37's.... damn, i would thought they changed it for the better on the HD based nav system for the 2010 model.....probably just to get the non nav and get the flyaudio version

Realtime traffic is the big one I can think of...and they added a few others too....it's still missing a few of the modern GPS features but it's a significant improvement

A list of just some of the features/advantages Garmin offered years ago the OEM Lexus nav didn't-

Speaking street names
Lane assist
3D building views
A2DP stereo profile to stream music over bluetooth
$99 lifetime maps vs. $300/yr
Can set up routes/POIs/etc on your PC and sync to GPS
Custom-triggered POI databases (can warn of redlight cameras approaching, speed traps, etc)
Put it in your pocket and use it for foot directions too
doesn't cripple itself when you put the car in drive
