Default Snow Problems

So i recently bought a is350 back in April. This is my first experience with the is in the snow we have gotten, but this car is terrible with the traction control always kicking on and never allowing the car to accelarate.

Before the is, i owned a e46 m3 and this car i could at least control in the snow!

For anyone who is driving a rwd lexus, can you please give me some feedback of some options....ie snow tires, selling it!!! haha. Any help would be appreciated.

Holy Cow!
I can't imagine even trying to drive in the snow with the OEM tires!
You need to get some all season or something.

Buy snow tires. Not all season tires.

Problem fixed.

i have goodyear eagle gt's and they do just fine in the snow! i'm in sales and drive everyday around the chicagoland area. just a suggestion, i also put two 50lb sand bags in the trunk! huge improvement. hope that helps.

forgot, make sure your in snow ect mode. it actually helps taking off from lights and going up slight inclines.

SNOW TIRES will out perform any all season tires out there.

Even performance snow tires will be better than any all-seasons...but I would throw some dedicated snow tires and you will be fine. I am currently driving on General Arctic tires....these have out perform my expectations.

100% true !! Also turnning the traction control off so the snow tires will bite and do their job will help a lot. Does no one remember the 70's and rear wheel drive ?? There was no AWD or VSC now all of a sudden it's a issue, not dumping here on anyone but let's be real get prepared for winter and drive acording to the road conditions.

That reminds when when I was trying to drive on sleet with OEM tires. I slid off the driveway and got stuck at the end.

Tires would help.

I have stock 17" rims and put Michelin Alpina snow tires on it. 2x 50lb sand in trunk. No problems. I had blizzaks, but like Alpina better. I may try the general's snow tires as I've heard good things and good price.

I have yokohama W Drive snow tires on my is 350 and 120lbs of sand in the trunk. I live in Denver and have to commute up a canyon road into the mountains everyday to get to work. So far I haven't had any problems getting to work this year. Driving through the slush can be alittle tricky. You have to carry some speed through it or the computer will shut u down. Be careful when pulling out onto a busy road, bc the computer will stop u right in the middle of it. If the traction control shuts the power down and I need to get up a hill I'll paddle shift to second and power up it.
To be on the safe side I ordered a set of SCC Super Z-6 cables for my tires. You never know when you might get stuck or slide off the side of the road. Drive slow and good luck this winter!

You didn't expect HP summer tires to work in ANY kind of snow? I have all-seasons and I'm impressed with how well it can get through the snow (with the help of "Snow Mode").

Dude, I just moved to Chicago from AZ with My 350 and just got my snow tires installed yesterday, I had the Factory Potenza's in the 1" snow on Monday, and couldnt even move my car, traction control would kick in every minute.

We just got 10" of Snow today and with my new Dunlop Winter Sport 3D's HOLY COW! Night and day difference! I was plowing through massive snow banks and never got stuck! Snow mode + Snow tires FTW!! Turns are no problems, and I can actually accelerate with minimal slip!

Also, the ride quality is amazing, I feel like Im driving a caddilac.

Summer Performance Tires & -10 degree temps = Tire compound frozen!

-10 this morning and my car is now stuck in the gutter lol!

I made it to work yesterday, but it was about 30 degrees warmer about 20-25 degrees out...

I will be purchasing ALL Seasons soon as I cant justify winter tires when the snow only sticks around for 7-10 days a year...

Just get snow tires. We have people in F's in the West driving around with no problem whatsoever, and they get a lot more snow there than in Illinois.
