difference between black obsidian and black onyx?

i don't see a diff i used to have an obsidian IS250... but i was along with a guy who had black onyx and we painted both our front grilles matching my car... but it had 0 difference... and i sold my sideskirts to an 06 black onyx.. it was practically flawless

so apparently the naming engineers played games with corporate management eh?

My. Toyota: I wanna new coloor for the IS next year

Mr Color Engr changes the name from Onyx to Obsidian and goes on a fishing vacation for the hard work he did
