Default Trunk opens by itself.. Very strange

This happened to me 4 times since I bought my car in August. I park my car in a parking lot for work and lock it before I walk into work. When I get off of work, I unlock my car, start the car, and find that my trunk is opened. I am 100% sure that I didn't touch my trunk AT ALL before work. It magically opened. I'm afraid to put valuables in my trunk now because of this. Does this happen to anyone else or is it just me..? I have a 2009 IS250 RWD.

When the key is in your pocket, there might be something in your pocket that pushes it. I had a problem with something in my pocket that would push the alarm button.

I thought about that too but I haven't put my keys in my pocket. If I did, I don't think there's anything that would hit the trunk button. I would've heard it pop and when it pops, its pretty damn loud. I clip my key on my pants so I don't think it could've happened.

lol how close is your work are u on the second floor? maybe a co-worker is playing a trick on you. keep in mind if u are on the second floor the range for your key is pretty high. like 400 feet...i use to be able to lock my car from the 3rd floor of my school.

Try keeping the valet switch in the lock position and see if it still does it. If so, something is really wrong.

Or else--change where you keep your key. Maybe in a jacket pocket.

Maybe you should try to reset your ECU by unplugging the battery. btw if you unplug your battery you will need to reset your windows also by rolling all the windows up and down until the light on button stops blinking. GL

I was thinking.. Could it be the same signal from someone else's remote to trigger my trunk to open? Possibility?

hey, i thought i was the only one and blamed it on my subs somehow. But i have experienced the same problem. Randomly my trunk would be open its not noticeably open, just enough that it warns you that your trunk is open from inside.

Thank god I'm not alone on this. Is there a fix for this? I'm paranoid about putting my belongings in the trunk even though it's not noticeable. Too risky. Would it be a waste of time telling the dealers?

Just a thought... how big are your paws? could it be when you hit the lock button you're also hitting the trunk release? sure its improbable but hey, you never know right?

ALSO... have you tried replacing your remote battery?

and lastly... in your sig you have weathertech visors listed, thats not something anyone here would put in their sig
