Default ect pwr on or off?

i see youtube videos of people doing 0 - 60 in thier is350's. my question is... when doing 0 - 60 or racing someone off take off is the car faster with ect pwr on or off? also when people say have traction control off does that mean i push that button next to ect pwr and the dash shows that yellow sliding car. does that mean it's off?

The car is faster with ECT PWR OFF. and yeah you should turn traction control off too.

as far as i can remember ECT pwr can be set to NORMAL, PWR or SNOW. so i take it you mean if it is set to NORMAL (no lights on dashboard) the car is faster? or do you mean it should say ECT PWR on the dashboard and the car is faster?

Keep the car in NORMAL with traction control disabled.

My car seems faster with it on. When I raced my friend's 05 SMG M3 it was tied with it off and I pulled almost a halfcar with it on. No idea why, same race back to back from a roll. No idea...

Mine has been on PWR and at S mode since the day I bought it. Too bad you can't keep Traction off each time you start.

During normal daily driving, I keep it in power, too. I prefer the throttle response and it holds gears longer in certain partial-throttle situations.

For WOT sprints, though, we've learned that normal is the way to go.

Well when I bought the car my dealer told me to keep it in power if wanted
the extra boost and I will lose as little
as
only 1 mpg compared to normal mode. But
after being on club Lexus for a while now, I learned that keeping it in normal is actually
faster.

Pretty much this. PWR mode is especially great for windy roads. Gears are held longer through curves and I get instant acceleration (without having to wait for a downshift) out of turns.

Still not as good as manual obviously but much better than normal mode, at least given out the vehicle has learned my habits under normal.

The dealer tried to convince me that the IS 350 is "almost as fast as the LS 460 0 to 60"

Momentary press of the button gets one light, hold it down for 5 seconds gets 2 lights and turns VSC and TRAC off until you restart the car or push the button again.

(that's for 07+ models- 06s have to do the pedal dance)
