Man, you have some *****... haha

Does nothing happen if you were to do this on a manual transmission car as well? I mean you'd have to make a pretty conscious effort in a manual though, but still curious.

After reading this thread and watching the vid, i tried doing this while going 20 mph per hour. But it didnt go into neutral, i guess i was going too slow. My car is getting a new tranny, hopefully warranty will cover it.

NAW. im just messing, nothing happened. And i just got to watch the pavement!!!

It's all electronic now and computer controlled. No longer directly to the transmission. So the ECU see's you put it in R, it will ignore that command.

^^^ what he said. it won't engaged the clutch plates or w/e for the reverse, or park gear when it senses its moving forward. so no damage will be done. Not sure how exactly this transmission works. but transmission fluid is normally used(along w/ lubricant and cooling purposes) to pressurize certain parts of the value body and causes the clutch plates to grab.... so it just won't engage gear pretty much. i think its something like that haha. don't quote me.

I agree... alot of people have a strong lack of respect for loaner cars.

You should see what the local benz dealer loans out to their customers...

You roll in with an SL65, and out with a Buick or Saturn from enterprise you go!

We should all respect that we roll into service in a lexus and they loan us a LEXUS while they work on ours.

btw you know what would have been hilarious.. If the service tech was just as curious as Phiber and tried it out on a customers car while it was in for service FAIL

All the lexus loaner cars are leased by that Lexus dealership, and if anything happens to them warranty (Lexus of Japan) will end up eating the bill, not the dealership.

I think Lexus can cover that bill, just incase you mess anything up on the loaner. Not saying you should try this, but I treat the loaner like I treat my car. I abuse my car sometimes, so I'm going to abuse the loaner sometimes.

On another note, if you are going less than 5mph (estimate), the car will jump. I'm 100% sure this happens, as some dumb *****, tried throwing my car into park while I was dropping her off (she was mad ofcourse), and it went into reverse instead. Made some weird noise, but the car still works perfect.

I don't know a single person, personally, who hasn't abused a loaner car at least once.
