You must live in a fairly rural area. I live in an area where there is new developments and new roads being built every year. My current house isn't even on the map yet.
Hahaha me too....my apartment isn't even in my Nav...I have an 06' just don't want to give up the over ride...Plus my friends already call me the human GPS....so the Nav gets me close then i just use what god gave me a brain...U have to admit we are getting lazy...Remember Actual Maps(Rand McNally)...wow what the hell are those now. Could never understand why people couldn't read them..My friend only follows the gps..he's like an ant if he goes off line he's starts to whine...I LMAO...
But the Garmin's type GPS' are good for other things like finding places to eat, Ect...
I did. In fact I special ordered to specifically to avoid paying $2500 for a nav system inferior to my $250 Garmin. Decisions like that is how I could pay cash for the 35-40k purchase when I bought it

Amazingly, my dash still not only controls the same non-nav stuff the nav one does, it usually does it faster since I don't have to change screens to change radio presets for example.
Everytime I get a nav loaner I feel like it's got the special-ed controls :P (push the picture of the thingy you want!)
And as noted, unless you live way out in the styx, quite a lot changes in a couple of years
Not this again..
This isn't a thread regarding aftermarket navi vs. OEM.
AFAIK other than the 2007->2008 map update that removed the requirement to hit "I agree" all updates since were simply that, map updates (newer roads and updated POIs)

oh nothing to fancy. o well, haha Thanks for the info Kurtz!
If you're ever interested in knowing the details on what's different between Nav versions, check out the Lexus Drivers site. Under vehicle resources there is a Navigation Map Update Reference Chart with links to PDFs that detail all the changes.
Does any one know if the Puerto Rico maps are included in the new update for the generation 5 navi. If not what can I do to have these maps included for the Gen 5. I bought a 2007 IS350 with the navi and ML package. It was shipped from FL since this model year did not have these options and I wanted these options. The new 2010 Gen 6 have these maps since these features are now available for cars sold in PR.
I have the 9.1 but if you live in downtown and crowded areas the difference its worth it. But if you live in the outskirts probably not worth it. Then again it all depends how rapid/slow your area is.
