Default Driving with spare or smaller wheel

My AWD IS was hit in the rear @4am in the morning when parked on the street. . I have one rear tire popped so I need to use spare tire for couple days. My question is that since I changed my wheels from 17" oem to 18" G-spider with 235/40/18 tires...is it ok to drive around with spare or 17" oem wheel even though its smaller? Will it mess up my AWD system?
I will post pics later. =(

If the overall diameter is different then yes, it will screw up the AWD system.

That said, I doubt the slight difference in diameter is anything that the OP has to worry about while he is running a spare.

AWD_IS - you should be fine driving on the spare. Just drive smart since you obviously won't have the same level of functionality. Your car will be good as new when you get the wheel replaced.

You should be fine as long as you drive normal.
