30K Checkup = $2100?
My 2007 IS350 went in for a 30,000 mile check-up today. ($440)
The technician called me back and recommended the following:
New set of stock tires
Wheel Alignment
New wiper inserts
Replace Rear Differential Fluid
Flush out Intake System
-All for the grand total of $1700. $1300 for a new set of tires, $400 for the rest.
Is the pricing reasonable?
What about the recommendations of the services done?
Rear Differential Fluid... Isn't that around the 50K~75K range?
I can definitely understand the recommendation about changing the tires, and wiper inserts.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Flushing out the intake system... He didn't say anything about my vehicle specifically, he just said that in some cases, there is a polluted buildup in the exhaust system that needs to be flushed out regularly.
Isn't the cause of this polluted buildup from the quality of gasoline you use?
Premium (92/93 Octance) only in my car!

Way too much bro. Shop around for cheaper tires. The dealer is going to recommend the Bridgestone's and in my opinion those tires suck a big one. I am pretty happy with the Goodyear Eagle AS tires I put on. They don't grip as good as a softer summer tire but they will last way longer. As far as changing the Diff Fluid at 30K it is debatable. I did it and replaced it with the Royal Purple "Grape Juice" at 30K and also changed the brake fluid. I had my local mechanic change the Diff Fluid and brake fluid for around $140.00 (fluids included). You may also want to check out the air filter and cabin filter. As far as the intake flush tell the dealer to beat it. You only have 30k the intake should be clean. Wheel alignment should be around $40-60.

ahhahah ! that person is straight ripping u off!! order a new set of tires from tire rack and have them put on at your local tire shop for ~$600 total. Get the Sumitomo Htrz III tires.
As far as the other stuff, I'm thinking 400ish is average. Put on the tires first then let them align it for u =)
Get your moneys worth.

I am sorry, but I never do these check ups. They are such BS. I know ill prob. get flamed for this, but we have a 4 year 50k mile warranty, no?
My friend used to work at a Honda delearship....you know how they used to rotate the tires? They would wipe down the front hubcaps.
If youre keeping the car long term, invest in the extended warranty...do some oil changes and a 75K mile tuneup.
As for tires...i think 600 is on the very low side, but 1300 is waaaaay out there. I would figure 700-900 including install and tax. I dont go cheap on tires, not worth it to me.
The alignment is going to cost you 75-150.

$2100 is way too much for the services you described. I agree with the other members, you should just go aftermarket with the tires. Tires are important to me, so I'll spend around $700 or $800 for a new set. Alignment shouldn't cost more than $130 for most places. I got an alignment done for $80 last time. Go aftermarket and save your hard earned money. Good luck.
1. Go buy your own tires online, and have them put them on.
2. Have them do alignment.
3. New Wiper inserts?!?! is this really necessary?
4. What exactly is he flushing out of the intake system? maybe he meant a throttle body cleaning?
5. Rear differential fluid at 30k? no way.
