Default Salvage

Is buying a salvage lexus is250 or a 350 worth buying? (i was thinking buying one with rear end damage)
They're quite cheap to buy them salvage, but i don't know exactly how much it might cost to repair them.

Since i'm new to this stuff, i still want to learn more.

1. Is it worth buying a salvage IS250/350?
2. Are the repairs costly?
3. And is the Luxury package (nav, etc) really worth getting with a lexus?

1. 10k or less Maybe, but you can get a pretty good used is250/350 for around 20k plus wit low mileage.

2. Depend on what. I remember buying a Salvage Civic Hatchback, and the rear suspension was never the same as before.

3. To me I think is not worth it. I prefer Garmin over the Navigation. But it does look nice at night

Good luck with your choice.

The nav makes the car look so much nicer IMO. To be honest this is your judgment not a bunch of guys on the internet that you will never meet. I know you asked this same question in another thread and you should just flip a coin and do whatever.

Personally I would never buy a salvaged car unless I was a mechanic and could fix it all myself. You never know what you will run into used much less a car that has been deemed a salvaged vehicle.

In the end our words do not mean anything. Its totally up to you

I wouldn't buy a salvage one. It would cost too much to fix as new. Not to mention resale would be hard.

i think its worth it if you plan on keeping the car for a long time like 10 years.

my first car purchase was an acura legent 91. It was used and it was salvaged. I was in high school at the time and it gave me nothing but problems. My advice: DO NOT buy salvaged. I would not touch a salvaged car with a 33 n 1/2 inch stick!

salvage = evil !

IMO buying a salvage title is the same for all cars. You just never know if it function as well as it did before so it's better not to.

Some points to ponder:

-They get a bad rap for reason.
-They cost little for a reason.
-There is nothing better than a factory car that hasn't been stretched, taken apart, welded back together, or rebuilt.
-If it was such a great move, most people would be buying salvaged cars left and right- they are not.

Yeah im planning on keeping it for a good 6 years atleast.

And to everyone-

I will get the car inspected thoroughly by an official lexus or automotive mechanic, etc. (or i'll do my best to inspect it myself, whatever the circumstances allow me to do)

I might be buying this lexus from an ebay auction.. and the guys feedbacks are all positive. 100% positive. :/
But that DOESN'T mean that i wont be going there to inspect it myself before making the final payments, etc.

I think you have made a decision. Congratulations on your new car when you get it!

hey even a blind squirrel finds a nut right? j/k

why was your car salvaged? At least it makes more sense to mod a salvaged car with no warranty than a new car with a factory warranty. I never thought of that before but it's a good idea.

People are always quick to give Salvaged/Rebuilt cars a bad wrap? In a lot of the posts that I've read here everyone is saying that a salvage car costs too much to repair? Does that mean that the parts for a salvage car cost more than a clean title car? It doesn't matter what title the vehicle has, they all costs the same to repair.

If you're going to purchase a salvage vehicle, the only way it would be worht your while is:
(1) Make sure that you're geting it for a good price
(2) If your plans are to keep it for awhile and have no plans of reselling it.

Just my .02...

I concur. it is really up to you to make that decision. lets just hope that you won't end up with a lot of problems if you do get one...
