3rd Gen IS speculation thread
The 3IS will be based on the then-current GS platform, just like the 2IS was.

Spied! Three Lexus IS Fs, Including Convertible, Join Toyota Supra on the ‘Ring

Motor Trend staffers and a spy photographer caught yet another group of high-performance vehicles testing at the Nurburgring. Lexus was reportedly testing a trio of IS Fs circling the ‘Ring, including an IS F convertible, a race-prepped IS F with NACA ducts, and another IS F chasing a right-hand-drive Toyota Supra.
The big news here is the black Lexus IS F convertible, and not because it’s a drop-top. While we wouldn’t mind testing a hardtop convertible version of the IS F, given the age of the current-generation IS lineup, this could be a test mule for the next-generation IS. Though Lexus has offered an IS 350C F Sport edition model, we wouldn’t expect an IS C F model this late in the car’s lifecycle.
A Motor Trend staffer who was at the ‘ring tells us the blue Lexus IS F (shown below) “had something nasty under the hood,” and it “sounded very mean.” From the photos, this IS F looks to be race-prepped; it’s got NACA ducts on its hood, hood pins, and a full roll cage.
The red Lexus IS F looked to be stock, but was chasing a gorgeous blue right-hand drive Toyota Supra around the track. Why? We’re not quite sure. That said, the Supra is still arguably the best sports car Toyota has ever produced, so if Lexus is using it as a benchmark for any IS F model, we’d more than welcome it.

Enjoy,

A lot of models probably won't have a navigation (option) but will have a multi media display with a decent sized screen. What's really neat is say when the iPhone5 comes out you can stream its new vectoring map straight to the screen, so there's really no need to buy the extra cost navigation.
That's all I can think of right now

Spied! Can You Identify This Mystery Sedan?

- We’re usually pretty quick when it comes to identifying a test vehicle, but we’re simply stumped by this heavily camouflaged sedan you see above. Associate web producer Carol Ngo caught this test mule during a recent commute to the office, and unfortunately was only able to capture one photo.
- One staffer said the wheels look “Lexus-y.” We can scratch the 2013 Lexus LS 460, GS, and ES since all three have been unveiled. Could it be the IS? Another staffer said the LED taillights could be from Audi, but others insist it’s a Toyota or Honda, as both companies’ North American headquarters aren’t far from where this sedan was caught. However, this tester also sports a Michigan plate.
- Bottom line is that we’re not 100 percent sure what it is, which is why we’re turning to our eagle-eyed readers. What do you think it is? Let us know in the
