IS250 doesn't have this issue I would assume.

Every manufacturer has their defects.

I am curious to know if there are any long term negative affects of this problem. Will my engine fall out of my car in x # of miles...

If it's not an issue than I'd rather not visit the dealership only to be disappointed, as I am now...

I can't think of any other 'luxury' cars that make a grinding / rattling sound loud enough to turn heads when you start up. Yes every manufacturer has defects but this ones is pretty bad and it seems they have no permanent fix for it since even 2008's have the issue...

I am just worried that I am suppose be getting it fixed, but in reality they are just 'patching' the problem and it will just resurface in a year or two.

I don't feel confident that they have solved the issue at all.

Not to defend Lexus, but while other makes may not have this specific problem, they more or less have various issues of their own; some of which leave you stranded at the side of the road, and then other extremes. It is certainly an unpleasant sound, and it remains to be seen what the long term affect will be, but I can't say I'd exactly praise other brands because they don't have a specific cam-gear issue at startup.

I will say, though, that my dealer has been 100% on top of this problem any time I've had questions, complaints, etc. about it, which does represent the brand well in how they address problems that undeniably do and will exist.

I've had this issue with my car and it has done it only every once in a while but I've always thought it was my Joe Z exhaust that has been causing this. Going to take it in ASAP!

What stats are you looking at? And, yes, the IS250 has the same issue, and the same bulletin.

I am getting it fixed next month. Currently the temperature outside is hot so I rarely hear it (haven't heard it in about 3 weeks). But in the winter I would say I hear it every second or third startup at all times of the day.

It's embarassing as your car sounds like it's got serious issues. I haven't had even 1 passenger NOT comment on it when they heard it.

So I'm kind of curious. Does anyone have a 2010 IS350 that has this issue? It seems that people are getting this as early as 20k miles, so I'm curious if they've fixed it in later versions of the 2IS.

The TSIB was done under warranty by previous owner.. but now it's back about 3 years later.
