Invoice + how much for new IS350
I am looking at getting a new Lexus IS350 (going to look on Monday).
This will be my first car and I would like some tips on buying.
Of course I want to save as much money as I can and don't want to over pay. In this economy I would assume I would get a better deal than I would June of last year.
I haven't decided if I want the navigation Navigation system or not. So that is up for debate.
I know I am not going to get as good as deal on a Lexus as say a GM product but I really don't see that these cars in such demand that I should be paying over MSRP (if that was the case I wouldn't even be looking).
I am trying to figure out what others are paying over (or if you are lucky enough) under invoice price. What options you have etc. I WILL NOT be doing any modifications to the car no extras except maybe the navigation.
How much should I expect to pay over invoice, for a base model 2009 IS350 (if you have the information same for one with Nav)? I have done research and saw invoice prices from various websites being 31-32k for a base model and 34kish for one with navigation. Does this sound about right? Is it reasonable to expect to pay no more than 1500 above invoice for either or am I crazy on thinking they would let it go for that? Or am I giving them to much credit right now (with the economy) and should expect to pay even less than that?
ANY information would be greatly appreciated.

price out your car on edmunds.com they will show you msrp, invoice and tmv prices. in this market, you should definately pay under msrp. the only car lexus dealers may try to add a mark up is for the new IS C.
The IS350s are pretty thin out there and I doubt that you'll find one with "just navigation" or with no options at all, so I'd take those invoice prices, although accurate, with a grain of salt. Generally, the IS350s that dealers have on the lot are pretty "well equipped" ( packaged up, loaded, whatever euphemism works for you) because most people who step up the extra $5K for the bigger motor either want them that way or are willing to pay for stuff they don't really care about to get the car. You could buy one for $1500 over invoice most places before the economy went into the crapper, so I'd bet that you could do at least that well now. I would guess that most IS350s currently on lots have MSRP of ~$41K (or more).

Also when you are saying invoice + X amount I am thinking OTD. Because to me invoice + $1000...then adding all the other fees and stuff up to MSRP is the same thing as just saying...You you pay MSRP.
