Hi all - So I have looked at a few slightly used IS 250 as a commuter car. I like that fact that it's a RWD, handles great and provides decent gas mileage. However, I do notice something that troubles me, every used 250 I looked at so far have wet black greasy build-up on the tips. I have other vehicles and the most you see out of the tips are water condensation no black build up.

Any idea why this is so or what would cause this?

most likely soot from your exhaust.

 

just the exhaust, i have those black stuff on the tips of my pipes on my lexus. its normal, i seen alot of cars with that black build up at the tips of the pipes my 01 honda prelude was also like that.
