Default Tire pressure

I noticed when I got my new IS that the steering felt very heavy. I checked the pressure and they are all at 30-32 psi. The sidewall states a maximum pressure of 51. I took mine up to 42 last night but have yet to drive to see if it made any difference.

What are you guys running in yours and is the steering relatively heavy.

Thanks.

I run mine at 38 front and 35 in the back. Never had an issue with heavy steering.

Ok, well when I drive mine maybe the increase will have helped. It seems terribly heavy to me.

take it to the dealer, tell them that the car feels heavy when you drive it, it could be your steering wheel or something else...let them deal with it...

No need. I took it out today and it felt great.

Manufacturer recommended pressure for the stock tires (per sticker and manual) are 35F, 37R.

Low pressure = heavy steering and slower steering response
High pressure = lighter steering and quicker steering response.

I usually always go above the door sticker. It makes for lighter feel and response.

I was just going to post that...

Does anyone know if the low tire pressure indicator tells you which tire is low, or if it just says "Low Pressure"?

In some of the older posts, I've seen people complain that it just says "low" and doesn't say which tire it is. Just a general message.

I tried that recommendation from day one. After 16k miles, front tires were slightly under-inflated. Rear tires were WAY over-inflated. I've settled on 37F, 34R. I have the REO50's

Yup...this is one of the rare instances where GM is way ahead of Lexus :P

BTW- had my 10k service today and the dealer apparently puts all 4 tires at 36 psi when they check/top em off on my 350 at least.

(and I still had 9/32nds of tread according to them at just under 10k miles, which suggests my factory tires will last a fairly insane amount of miles)
