Default TPMS Sensor programming

Ok, so those of you who have had a 2nd set of TPMS programmed into the car, how much did you pay?

My dealer is quoting 150-200 for this crap.

150-200 for connecting their service computer to your car and entering the codes of sensors? Outrageous

I agree completely, its like 20-30 min worth of work I am guessing. Thats the problem with Toyota in Hawaii, all Toyotas go through one dealership, so they have a major monopoly. I been calling around to repair centers and no one has the correct tool to do this yet.....

I had them do mine for FREE Its all of 5 minutes for them to do it...pulled into the service bay and they had it connected and was out. I cant believe they quoted that much. I guess I could see the 30 ~ 50$ and nothing more then that.

I paid over $200. Only one dealer for 5000k miles so they get to charge whatever they want.

Call up your local TOYOTA dealership and ask them the cost.

He said that all Toyota is done through one dealer in Hawaii... so I'm guessing Lexus/Toyota/Scion are all through the same place. Sucks man, You might be able to haggle with them to do it for cheaper. Outrageous that they are charging that for something so simple.

Weird. I've tried calling the Toyota dealership down the street from me (walking distance, Toyota of Rancho Santa Margarita), so that I could get my second set of TPMS programmed. They told me that they couldn't do it at all and that only Lexus can do it (lies) so I have yet to have my second set programmed. I've read about some places doing it for free, so I'll check those places out... eventually. So lazy!

I also tried a Toyota dealership first and they told me that they tried to do it on an IS before and couldn't. So I went to a Lexus dealership and paid $65 for the programming (the sensors were already installed on the car).

My local toyota dealership told me they could program mine, and they did.

I'm not sure why they would say that they can't. I don't think programming the IS is much different than programming a Camry, Highlander, 4 Runner, or Land Cruiser (and therefore ES, RX, GX, and LX, respectively)

I thought the same thing. As far as I know, the Toyota and Lexus dealerships/service centers have the same equipment. I was just thinking that if anything went wrong with them, they didn't want the blame. If that was the case why didn't they just tell me that straight up. It's not like I would hold them accountable for anything if they did me the favor of programming my TPMS.
