Default Black front grill

How can you get the front grill to be black? I came across this but it looks pricey...http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/par...d=197414&all=Y I dont like the chrome at all & I have a black IS so I want to black it out. Also how can you get the rear lights blacked out as well?

I just bought some flat black paint, some blue tape and newspaper. Cover the surroundings with newspaper and tape, and paint away my friend.

I was checkin out changing the grille too, i noticed that their is the grille surround which i wanted to change and then the actual grille, pretty hefty price tag, is there any parts we can purchase and then just spray paint ourselves?

2 months ago I had my buddy (who owns a body shop) paint the grill surround and the chrome window trim for me on my ISF. As mentioned previously, he said the key is to prime with a real good adhesion promoter or else it won't be durable. I'm very happy with the look and had it all done for cheaper than buying the advertised black grill. With all this said, I already have had to touch it up the surround due to a rock chip ( I think it would have left a mark no matter whether it was chrome, painted, powdercoated, etc...). If I had it to do over again, I think I would have at least had the surround wrapped in the clear bra material for added durability.

How much would it cost rob? Any body shop will do this? It just sucks for resale though.

If you get it done again, ask them for their levels of clear, there are clear coats that are stronger than others, one of my buddy's that works at a bodyshop told me about this, he painted my rear bumper and it looks as shiny as my OEM clear and the clear on it is stronger, then again he did use Spies Heckler. A good clear can protect it from getting rock chipped

I don't see why it would affect resale too much.

I got quoted for $75 just to paint the grill bezel. How difficult is it to do it yourself with a spray can? I am thinking of doing this myself but not sure how it a black grill will look on SGM..? Any suggestions?
