Default 2IS Curse...

Got backed into at a gas station last friday... other insurance has claimed liability and im not exactly sure how I want to proceed with this. My front bumper is a little scuffed up and my passenger front fender is bent in a bit. I already got a quote from a shop for $988. The inspector is comming tomorrow morning to check out the damage. Whats the best way to go about this? I really don't want to leave my car in a shop and i'd rather just have the insurance cut me a check. Will they do this? im dealing with AAA... is it possible that the adjuster will cut me a check right then and there after the inspection? Your thoughts are appreciated

oh btw it was my birthday on Sunday... nice present huh

Well, belated Happy Birthday!

Yeah, it sucks that you got hit.

But when you deal with insurance (especially Triple-A, which is huge), if they're gonna hand over money, they're going to inspect the vehicle before and after to determine if their money was appropriately used. They do this for fraud prevention.

They're gonna spend a buck to save a nickel.

In other words, if you want your car fixed, let the insurance pay to fix it.
If you don't want it fixed, then just let it be...

It depends which Insurance company you deal with...as for myself when I had a small incident on my Porsche...Farmers Ins just had me go to the local adjusters office. The adjuster evaluated my damage. Then cut me a check on the spot and said get it fix or not its your choice..?!?! So I guess different Ins companys deal with it there own way...good luck to you and sorry to hear about your situation..fellow norcal IS member.

So, I just got done with the adjuster and I told her I didn't want to bring it to a body shop. She said I should have a check and estimate by the end of the week, only took like 4 minutes or so? weird... well I hope they compensate me nicely

If you think they under estimate the amount because you said "I didn't want to bring it to a body shop". Bring it to a body shop and get it estimate...and work the amount w/ the insurance contact lady. Remeber, its a lexus, very expense part.

Buy her a drink, then show the fingers, and estimate/multiply.
