hey guys... does anyone know if there is any thing you can do so the when you put something in the cigarette ligher inside the center counsel the lid for it would have to stay open. basically IMO the cig lighter in the center is usless... i would like to keep my iPod and cables inside the consol without having a cable running from the front just to charge my iPod...

think this was a big mistake by the creators mainly because they could have just tilt it 90 degrees.

 

Shouldn't the lid stay open? Mine does.

Radio Shack sells a swivel adapter for a few bucks that lets you close the lid -and- plug 2 devices into it

 

Push the cover all the way open and it stays. Push again to release is how mine works. I long ago removed the ashtray and lighter. I conned my salesman out of the dummy plug that is standard in the RX to fill the lighter hole. Not sure why the IS comes with the lighter and ashtray as most make this an option since non-smokers outnumber smokers. My RX was that way. Plus it gives you another small storage area - something I feel the IS design lacks.

 

I bought a monster cable adapter which the plug is designed in a 90 degree angle and very small. This fits in the cig lighter in the console and works great with my itouch/iphone 3g

cool... yeah it kind of sucks when you want to use the center console cig ligher and it wont close... i think im going to try the radio shack idea... and for those of you that dont know what im talking about it is the center arm rest console. mine has the iPod adapter in there but the cig light is facing up so when you want to something in the cig lighter you can close the lid... im trying to find solutions for this.
