HELP!!! oem XM install and Ipod playing at the same time?
I just finished installing the OEM Lexus XM kit for my wife's 2008 IS250. I bought it from Sewell Lexus in Dallas.
I finished installing everything and before I put everything back together I wanted to test it to make sure it's working correctly. The XM unit plays fine but when I connect my ipod to the connector in the glove box I can hear both the XM and the Ipod playing at the same time.
Also even when the ipod isn't connected the nav screen keeps flickering something at the very top of the screen. It never did this before but we just bought it last week. The screen is flickering the station at the very top right of the screen and the location for preset 1 flickers also.
What do you think is going on? I know these wiring harnesses are hand made is it possible we got a bad wiring harness or even possibly a bad tuner?

What are you plugging the ipod into exactly?
Because if it's the OEM Lexus Ipod adapter it is not compatible with the OEM XM unit. They both use the same input to the system. (which is horrible design on Lexus part, especially since the XM setup was around for years prior to the ipod adapter, and other ipod adapter makers have no problem supporting both devices on this car)

Another option is:
My wife said she'd be happy with keeping the OEM XM tuner. But since I'm getting some interference with the OEM ipod connector. Does anyone know how to go about completely disconnecting it from the head unit so that the OEM XM radio will function correctly?

You'll need to swap the OEM ipod interface for the VAISTECH ipod interface. That's pretty much the only way it will work. Perhaps resell the ipod interface here?

Has anyone used the vaistech Ipod interface, to verify it'll play either I-pod or Sat radio without problems?
