I was wondering if any of you had found a solution to the annoying red lightthat glares at you when you don't have wheels that are compatible with TPMS? I know that you could build a "pipe bomb", but I was wondering if placing a set of the sensors in our spare tire would work?
I'm expecting my SSR Vienna Zweels to be arriving at the end of August. They are TPMS compatible, but I would like to place the sensors in the spare since my winter wheels doesn't have the sensors. So, this would take care of both sets of wheels with one easy solution (if it works). Thanks in advance.
search. it's been discussed a lot. I gave up on all the tricks because none seemed to work and put the sensors in my spare. It stayed on for about a day and than disappeared.
The pipe bomb method is good, I have mine for 7 months and no tire pressure light yet. Some of our members here in Hawaii have their sensor in their spare and no problem yet plus with the sensor inside you'll know if your spare tire is low.
How did you guys mount the TPMS to the inside of the spare rim? I was thinking of using double sided tape instead of purchasing the mounting bracket from Lexus. Did you inflate the psi to 60 as recommended for the spare tire?
If you put the sensors in the spare, don't forget they're there and mount the spare on the car if you have a flat. You will destroy the expensive sensors if you drive on the spare. Just a heads up.

Go to the tire shop and have them put the sensors inside... the pipe bomb method is much better unless you will never gonna have a flat tire.

That's a good point! Hopefully, I'll never have to use the spare tire.
