I'm averaging 24-25 mpg in about 70% highway, and 30% city. I average about 27-28 mpg on about 90% highway and 10% city. If I get super conservative (for 90% highway, 10% city), I can get 29.4 (29-30) mpg.

Driving as conservatively as possible, I get 27.5 - 27.8 mpg 100% highway at 65 - 70. If I drive my normal 80 - 85, I get 23.x. Around town if I am nice, I get 22.x, if I am not I get 20.x. I have never seen the far side of 28 mpg on the Tank Average ever. Damned oxygenated fuel anyway...

Nope. That's correct.

The 250 manual isn't properly geared as well as the auto 350. The auto tranny of the 350 is very efficient, whereas the manual tranny of the 250 is not so efficient.

This MPG data would be much more interesting if it included current odometer reading and fuel type (gasoline, E10, etc.).

I haven't ever gotten much over 26 MPG on the highway with E10, but I'm currently getting about 24 in all city. I'm almost to 7K miles, and I'm using 5W-30 Mobil1.

BTW, that 24 MPG city is the absolute MAX I can get while treating it like a science project.

I'm getting around 32MPG for hwy and 26 for city. Fill up with 93, got about 3k miles on the ODO. Been babyin' the crap out of it though esp on the hwy since its 90% of my drivin'...cruisin' up thru hills and speedin' up down 'em.

It's kind of silly to make that statement without taking into consideration the 250's torque curve. If the top gear is too tall, then the car will respond poorly upon acceleration at speed. A person shouldn't need to downshift in order to pass another car, for instance, on a multi-lane road. And stuffing taller and taller gears into a car isn't necessarily going to improve highway economy anyway. They have to find a balance between economy, and performance when it comes to the gearing on the car, and personally, I think they actually took the ratios on the top end a little too far. I'd like to see shorter gearing, and would make a wager that the performance would increase, while the fuel economy would be very close to the same.

The gear ratios would suggest the 250 didn't do as well as the 350, but that's a load of crap that a 300hp car gets the same mpg as the same car with 200hp. Here's personal numbers on my 6-speed 250.
9000+ miles and 30.1 MPG lifetime
85+% highway mileage
@75MPH = 29mpg
@70MPH = 36mpg
@65MPH = 42mpg

Yes, 42.1 mpg on an entire tank with mostly highway driving @ 65. Long straight, no hills, with the wind stretches, I would hold 45-46mpg. I live in flat Ohio, so when I'm in Pittsburgh, drop those numbers by 6-8mpg in the hills.
Wish I had 7 gears.

I just checked my highway mileage again today (after a couple thousand miles of pure city), I was pleasantly surprised that it has gone up significantly. As I posted earlier in this thread, I've never gotten much over 26 MPG on the highway, but I got 31.9 MPG today with 45 miles of pure highway. I filled up my tank right at the highway entrance with 93 octane E10, didn't touch the brakes once during the whole trip, A/C was on, and the trip computer said my average speed was 63 MPH. I figure the difference is due to the engine still breaking in. I hit 7K miles during the drive.

I just made my 101 mile drive again last night. Cruise set to 70 mph, no a/c, late night so very few interruptions. I also should note I got the oil changed by Lexus on Friday, and they used 5w-30, not 5w-20. I got 26.8 mpg, exactly 1 mpg less than when I set the cruise to 65 mph the whole way under nearly identical conditions (wind, temp, time of day). Damned oxygenated Cali 91 octane premium!

FWIW, my Supra has never seen the far side of 22 mpg with California fuel. As soon as I get out of the "Golden State" and put real gas in the thing, I get 26 mpg on freeway trips at 80 mph. To much oxygen and too little octane in the fuel.
