I've got an '06 IS250 88k miles. With my new green driving style I get:
32 MPG average with about 33~35 Tank averages. I do about 25% city miles typically. I did a manual calc and it came out to be about 33 mpg on average.
I've noticed a .4 L/km difference just having the mode set so the defrost symbol is not on. Just read recently that defrost of any kind turns on the AC compressor (which of course uses more gas)
One thing that most of you aren't taking into consideration is the fact that the 05-07 models were advertised as 24/32 EPA MPG. The 08+ models are supposed to get 19/29 MPG's.
I have an 08 IS250, and I drive like an old lady, and I only get around 18/24. I do my calculations after a fill up, and I only use premium grade fuel. I am a bit disappointed on the highway fuel economy, and will probably trade this car in for something else in about a year or so.
Thanks for the bump cuz I have a question.
I have a 2010 350, 14k miles. 19'' staggered wheels, 225/35 F, 235/35 R. I usually get 28-32 mpg on the freeway, cruise controlin' around 75.
I got new front tires installed and my mpg has taken a dump ever since then, about 25 mpg freeway now.
I assume it's due to the tires. They were balanced but did not get aligned. Is a bad alignment the cause of this?

errr... 2 things-
The 2IS first model year was 2006.... there are no 2005s.
and the EPA changed how they calculate mileage. Lexus didn't do anything to change the actual mileage on 2008 models.
They did change to a lighter weight factory oil in... I wanna say 09 or 10, which allowed them to advertise a marginal increase in mileage, but you'd get the same thing on an older car using that oil.

Have you maintained it? (changing filters, oil, spark plugs, etc when needed, proper tire inflation...).... Because I get better than that in a 350, and have since the car was new (also an 08)...I usually get 28-30 highway... if I only get 24 highway in a RWD 250 I'd expect there to be something wrong with the vehicle.

You are correct, it was a typo, it should have said the 06/07 models.

You may not have noticed yet, but I am not the only one griping about the **** poor gas milage coming from this vehicle. I had a 2010 Nissan Maxima before I got this car, and the Maxima got the same fuel economy that I am currently getting from this 250, only the Maxima has about 86 more hp. I just did the 30k service, so yes, everything has been inspected that would cause a concern for fuel economy.

I didn't say you were the only person with poor mileage.
But since the vast majority of people with the exact same vehicle as you get significantly better mileage (and even the ones with the same vehicle but the larger, 102 hp more, engine do as well) it suggests that the folks who are having mileage issues have something wrong with their vehicles (or in rare cases are simply engaging in extremely poor-mpg driving due either to their driving style or possibly the type of driving they're needing to do (excessive idling in traffic or lots of very short trips for example)
Under-inflation of tires and failure to keep the air filter clean are two easily missed items for example that can significantly reduce mileage, hence my mentioning them.
