Hey all,

I was surfing around a techie blog (crave.cnet.com), saw this article and thought you'd all like to know about it. I don't have an iPhone, so I don't know accurate it is, but it sounds pretty cool if it works!

And if you're wondering, no I don't work for them. =)

Here's the link to manufacturers site:

http://dynolicious.com/index.html

Here's the blurb on cnet:

Dynolicious appears to be the first automotive performance meter available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The app utilizes the iPhone's built-in accelerometer to measure the performance characteristics of any vehicle it's placed into.

Simply toss your iPhone into the nearest cupholder or cradle and Dynolicious will record your quarter-mile, 0-60 time, lateral Gs, horsepower, and a host of other statistics. The developers state accuracy within a tenth of a second and 1.5 mph.

Dynolicious is available in the iTunes Store for $12.99.

hmmm is it really this accurate? "accuracy within a tenth of a second and 1.5 mph." if this is teh case we will be able to do before and after tests of the perfomance parts in real life extremely easily now. This is a godsend. Even if not completely accurate this is gonna be a pretty cool App

If you don't have an iphone currently it'd be a LOT cheaper to just get a G-tech or something similar... they've been offering this (with better accuracy) for over a decade now

If you do have an iphone then sure, $13 ain't bad for the feature.

Someone tried this on one of the other forums I visit. It seems to be fairly accurate. Here is what he got.
Quote:
i went out and did 3 runs...

run 1 - 17.00@84.2mph - 130hp
run 2 - 16.74@85.9mph - 132hp
run 3 - 17.21@85.4mph - 125hp

Real numbers...I run fairly constant at Bandimere always with in a few tenths so here's one example.
1/4mile 16.963@81.41mph
142 Hp on Tobi's dyno

I have an Escort GT2 Performance monitor and the iPhone has similar technology built in. It wouldn't surprise me if it could work.

I heard while it looks cool, it's not good. It freezes up a lot and has a lot of other problems. Don't have the link but will post later to the review.

i want to get it, but waiting for the update to see how it really is.. the reason why it's stopping me from getting it is the error inputting the vehicle..
