How long after a car is produced should it take until a dealer can provide a VIN number?

VIn# is asigned as soon as the car specs is entered in the computer system schedule for production. The plate (tag) with the VIN# is stamped and installed just before the completed car rolls off the assembly. The exact sequences is pretty much the same for all manufactures with slight variations.

Are you asking.... when does a dealer know the VIN# for cars ordered? The dealer dealer receives a confirmation as soon as the order is entered & accepted by the system. some manufactures like Mini assign a # that the customer uses to log in and track every stages as the car as goes thru the process from the order to production to shipment to dealer.

I ordered a car with non regioanl build specs a few months ago. I could not get a VIN # to confirm the car was produced. An hour ago I received the information. I should have my car in 3 weeks. Cool.....
