Default Rust-Proofing Question

I apologize ahead of time if this has already been covered a million times, but I need some reassurance. When I went in to the dealership to sign the papers, I asked the sales guy about rust-proofing, and how much it would cost. The guy told me, "You won't need rust-proofing. Lexus uses galvanized-steel blah blah blah... so there's no need for it." I rebutted, "But just say I want to rust-proof it anyways, how much wold it cost?" He said, "We simply don't offer it, but you don't need it anyways."

Ok, the question is... Is he telling the truth?? Is he telling me Lexus doesn't offer rust-proofing because he's afraid I might ask him to throw it in for free? Or does Lexus really use some kind of super-steel body panels that are "rust-resistant"?

I'm coming from driving a Honda for the last decade, and rust unfortunately is a harsh reality where I come from. Especially living up in Toronto, rust is a car's worst nightmare here. Please help me understand what's going on. Thanks.

Thanks Caifan, funny gif by the way. I didn't mean to start another thread about rust-proofing, but I honestly want to get some opinions as to whether the sales guy is telling the truth, and also, just so I learn a thing or two about Lexus steel.

I read the thread link, and now I'm pretty sure no rust-proofing is needed. How about for those of you that lives here in the north? Can it really stand up against the harsh winters of snow and salt without rust-proofing?

Thanks.

I was always a believer of rustproofing on my previous car. At first I was getting it applied every year but having it applied every other year was fine too. Had it for almost 11 years and didn't have a speck of rust on it. When I got my IS, I thought about getting it rustproofed too but the sales manager was telling me the same thing you heard. He has a 1st gen LS and drives it year round and has no rust. That was convincing enough for me and helps to save $ for mods

I didn't realize rust proofing requires the drilling of holes. I thought they just sprayed he stuff on the outside, around the doors, and under the car.

If holes need to be drilled, I don't think I'll be interested.
