Default Got an Accident to Save a Dog

Was driving to my friends house around 7:30pm Saturday. He lives on a semi country road. Out of the nowhere a dog came out and decided to cross right in front of me. I was able to save the dog but not the car. Ended doing a 180 in a ditch and out the other side.

The dog owner came out and was crying she was happy her dog is ok. They honestly feel bad about the situation.

Right front bumper, lens and quarter panel is heavily damage. Since the hit and removed a mailbox. Right tire came off the rim and is full of mud. Left rear exhaust is bent. Not sure underneath the car but it can't be pretty. When the flat bed pull my car I noticed two 1.5" rods my car back up into and bend to the ground.

The towing guy, my insurance broker and most other people all say the same thing. I should of hit the dog.

I feel I did the right thing. But still...

I'm waiting to get an estimate from the dealer. I wonder if her house insurance would cover it? She admittedly said it was her fault for not tying the dog, which is on the police report.

Aw...that was nice of you to save the dog. Too bad about your car. I totally think she (the dog owner) should take care of any and all costs to repair damage done to your vehicle.

Hey man I'm sorry to hear the bad news, but props on saving a life! A lot of people wouldn't have done that.

however much your accident will cost your insurance company, you did the right thing; it's easier to replace damaged property than a beloved pet. shame on them for saying that you should've hit the dog.

I have to agree with the majority, you saved a dog and it was a morally right thing. It is sad about your vehicle. Maybe the owner can work something out with you. I would pursue that avenue.

Hey dude I'm really sorry about your ride, I hope everything goes well with the insurance. You did a good thing saving that dog, glad you're good. Don't worry everything will be ok, you should be glad you saved a life, you'll be rolling in an IS in no time, maybe IS-F?

I know it sucks, but you don't want to have a nice looking car with the knowledge that you killed a dog with it.

Hopefully, you get your car fixed as quickly as possible.

I think you did a great thing saving the dog's life. Its unfortunate that your car was damaged but I agree with everyone here saving a life is more important. Hopefully the insurance companies will fix your car and you'll be back on the road soon.

It comes to dollars ...then sense.... of course its cheaper to them for repairs if you hit a dog than opposed to property.

+1 I believe in karma too.....It will work out because you did the right thing pets are family members to most owners.

Absolutely.
Don't over think it. I'm sure you only had a few seconds to react.

Anyone who thinks you should have hit the dog is a jerk. It's a living animal that can feel pain.

I hope your car gets fixed quickly. If I was the dog owner, I would be so grateful I would pay every penny for you. It would be worth having my dog safe.

Acidents don't cost the insurance companies, they raise rates.
