Why is the trans default 4th gear?
I do agree, I hate to have my revs fall off too low when in the city. I usually keep the sport mode active in 4th around the city speed limits of 45mph or lower. This helps me keep the revs where I like them. I like the fact that all I have to do is move the shift lever to the left and its in the correct gear. Once again its preferance but I like 4th a lot more than 6th @45mph.
BTW, this feature was one of the features like liked most about the IS350. Its intelligent automatic shift control system.
One thing I would like to add about engine braking. Some cars can take advantage of it while others can't. Unfortunately, even though the IS350 has plently of pep, the engine's braking can't help you much. My Integra on the other hand can really take advantage of it. Since that car is a front drive, it can help me straighten out when coming into a turn fast and the carriage decides to get ahead of the horse.
LOL. I don't think he was directing that to you.
