Hi All - New 2008 250 AWD Owner
Hi all. I just picked up my new '08 250 (Red Mica) w Navi, Premium package, ALS, rear lip spoiler, and all season mats. So far I love the car. I am not going to do much more with it, with exception of window tint and some kind of iPod integration system.
I am at the end of a 5 year finance for my '03 Saab 9-3 Vector that has less than 26K! I am giving that to the wifey. I really enjoyed driving that car and the turbo 4 was a blast. The car has been pretty darn reliable since I have had it with relatively few issues except during the first couple of months when it was having computer problems. Since then, it's been rock solid and mostly the reason why I gave it to my significant other.
I have a couple of questions regarding the above:
1. Tint - any issues with it scratching? I know my 93 had issues with the tint rubbing against the interior door panel causing scratching. I had to have felt strips installed on the inside of each door to prevent scratching. I hope that is not necessary with the IS.
2. iPod integration - from what I hear, the OEM Lexus kit is real expensive. since I am leasing the car, I don't want to go crazy with the additional expenses. Since my wife and I don't use CD's anymore (who really does?), she ownes an iPhone and I have a Touch, I figure the integration kit would be the way to go. I could use the aux, like I have in my 93, but it would be nice to control and see info on the GPS/information display. Do you guys know how much Lexus asks for that kit? Does it also charge the unit too? What about the Vaistech units? I am not a DIY kinda guy so I would have to find a good installer (the one I really trusted closed its doors a couple of years ago).
Like I said, I am very impressed with the fit and finish of the car and it's been relatively fun to drive. Most certainly a different driving experience than the turbo/euro suspension of the Saab but still fun nonetheless.
Thanks for listening and any help would be gladly appreciated.
Cheers!

Here a few threads that should be of help:
Ipod Option...There are more. Others can share as I do not have either of the options available.

Yes there is something about the install that needs to be done. I can see slight marks on my car now on the front windows. Hope this thread is of help.
Weclome to CL!

Thanks for the links.
I decided to go for the Lexus kit....$299 plus installation. Not too bad.
I am getting the windows tinted today....35% all around.
