I guess you gotta look at it from an objective stand point. I believe if you are in an auto-cross race, then you need to switch on power mode to give you the optimal shifts with all the constant shifting when you are entering and exiting the corners.
But if you are in a straight line beater from a stop (drag), then the normal mode was the more optimal setup for that condition.
The pedal shifters as mentioned aren't very effective. They are actually limiters and not true shifters.

So for best 1/4 mile times, just place in normal mode and go, right?.
But how about when you're doing some 40-100mph action? or 60-120 mph action?
I have a 350 and turn on ECT-PWR mode, place the shifter in manual mode (never use paddles) and drop it down to 2nd gear and shift up manually at or near redline for each gear.
Would this be the best methodology for this partuclar scenario?

To do a proper 40 to 100 MPH roll, keep the car in ECT Normal mode. Next, move the car from "D" mode to "S" mode and use the "-" (left) paddle to reduce the limiting gear to "2" while maintaining a speed of 40 MPH.
When you are ready to go, simply stomp on the accelerator pedal as fast as possible, and immediately after you stomp on it press the "+" (right) paddle 4 times as quickly as possible to raise the limiting gear to "6" (all while going WOT)
