i can understand you want to protect the paint, but honestly if you drive a long distance or short distances there still would be chips. i put 25k on my IS in a year, and half of that is highway, and i do have pitting on my bumper and i do prep and detail my car religiously. to me it's going to happen. it's a car, no matter what you can't keep it perfect but this is just going above and beyond. however i try to keep it as perfect as possibly and avoid other cars..
The best solution (although the most expensive) is to get a clear bra. I had one installed the first few days I had my car. Far better looking, and much more protection than a "tape bra".

I know it's not going to do much for the rock chips...my biggest concern are the bugs.
Driving north through the state of Florida on the Turnpike, the nice, thick, juicy bugs like to committ suicide by faceplanting themselves on your paint.
When I get back home sunday night, i'll just peel the tape away and be happy!
Smurf blue...nice touch! myculito...I feel ya about the bug situation. I live way out in the "country part" of my town, and cleaning off the bugs from my bumper is a weekly occurance along with wiping off the brake dust from my wheels.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Having lived in Louisiana for many years, I know how bad it is dealing with those bugs. It's like they have glue in their blood!
