For that monthly payment, you can buy the car with 10% (approx $3k) down...

If you're planning to keep it after 3 years, I'll say it's a good deal with no down payment. If you want to keep it and do some modifications, then you should finance it. I've babied my IS350 as much as the first day I purchased it, fortunately I have a daily driver (2000 Audi S4) that's as much fun to drive as my IS, I only put 13k miles on it since November 2006.

+1... or go IS350 lease same $$... rule of thumb- did you try to negotiate a final price on the car FIRST before any other topic (trade, monthly payments, etc.)?

If you did NOT, they have advantage= you can do better....

NOTE: I get a new/different car every 12 months or so, so I know the "game" well....

in order to purchase the vehicle and keep the same monthly payments and options i think he would more than 3k down...with tax and title...3k down would probably land him in the 615 a month area...IMO

Agreed, I would look to buy the car and finance via LFS. Leases are basically rentals. They work well if you have a job that allows you to expense it and you could write it off in your taxes.

The thing to worry about with leases is getting hit with mileage penalties. It adds up fast. I wonder if everyone remembers how Acura/Honda had their speedo's slightly rigged to record more miles than actual. My sister had received a letter and credit on her lease due to this issue being exposed. This is a shady practice and I hope Lexus never takes part in this.

True.
One must stay within the mileage allowed or it's .25 a mile and that adds up.
With Honda/Acura getting caight,i would think Lexus and others are on the up and up with the odometer count.
