I have an IS250 AWD, but im seriously considering upgrading to a gs350. I live in the northeast so i need AWD. I'm just not feeling the power in my 250. What do you guys think? It kind of sucks because I got a special order on my IS with ML, and had to wait 8 months. Should I wait a year before i trade?

 

The longer you wait, the more the car is going to depreciate. This is what you should have taken into consideration before you bought the car, thats the reason why they let you test drive it before purchasing.

But before you trade your car in, is the extra power really necessary? If so, then go with the GS Model.

If not, then im sure you can "settle" for an IS250AWD with the ML system, after all, it's not like your settling for a Honda.

** Not to sound off tune or anything, and this is in no matter of means directed at anyone, just a general statement.

Everyone acts like they are so deprived (like they have to settle: ex: I'll settle for a million dollars instead of 5 million...does this make sence?) and complain about little things with their cars.....PEOPLE!!! Its a Lexus, you're lucky you have one because I dont and neither do many other people..appreciate what you have. I just think that a certain breed of people are so use to having the best of everything, it becomes all they know.

 

You special ordered the car and waited 8 months... and now you find out that the car is underpowered... YIKES!

 

if youre looking for more room and more power, id recommend the GS350. theyre quick cars and fun to drive.

however, since youve already purchased your AWD IS250 and it hasnt been that long, id suggest staying with that car. do you really need that extra push? if you do, consider your financial situation. if the depreciation in your cars value isnt something that bothers you, and you can handle purchasing the GS350, go for it. but if its not a burning desire of yours and its not something you need, id recommend waiting

I think you need to go drive the GS to see how it is. Make sure you take into consideration that its a heavier car so is it really going to be faster then your current car? The weight difference along with the bigger engine is going to be a wash I think for you.

Why not a RWD IS350 with some winter tires and rims? I have done this in IL on mine and it worked just fine! I experience similar winters to you!

i have an Is250awd and my father has an Gs350awd.

My IS at themoment is not moving because it need 4 new tires so i get to drive my fathers GS since i drive 70+ miles a day.

the added power is very welcomed, the car doens't hesitates not does it need to downshift on the higway. it is a little bigger car, and does not have an as hard suspension as the Is does. the car does get up and moves quicker then the IS. overall it is the IS's big brother. if you want something more sportier then get the Is if not then the GS might be your choice.

 

The GS 350 AWD is a very nice car but you'll take a beating on a trade or sale and the GS AWD is $50K makes that GS 350 AWD a very,very expensive choice.

no problem, i know my grammer is a mess but i was in class.

the GS is deffinitly a smoother ride all around. it deffinitly gets up and goes if you wind it out but on the top end the GS will pull away from the IS, no doubt about it. the brakes feel the same, this could be that my dad had the TSIB done and my IS still has the old pad make up.

if you want sporty then go with the IS, if you want luxury and cruising then go with the GS. the GS is also a heavier car, and has a lighter steering then the IS. Either way i don't think you can go wrong, both are great cars, it's just all in what you are looking for in each car.

here in the Northeast the Is gets better mialge then my fathers GS, about 4-5mpg better.....thats also another plus.
