Default DVD with no ML... Help!

hey everyone, this is my first post here, but I have been reading this forum for years! I am picking up my new is250awd tomorrow. unfortunately, they don't have one at the dealer available with the options I want and ML. SO I don't have ML. But i want to be able to watch DVDs in the car (with the nav hack). I searched and couldn't find anything. Please help Can I get an external dvd player? replace the drive??

IF you do not have the ML DVD then the factory system will not play DVD on the screen. You could get an aftermarket DVD player to work on the NAVI screen if you wanted that feature. The NAVI hack will have nothing to do with the DVD playing while moving since you will have an aftermarket unit. That will be how you or the stereo place installs it for you. If they install they will ground it and you will have to change that to allow it in Motion if that is what you are looking for. The Navi hack will allow all the other features and benefits of using while in motion!

Good luck with the purchase and post us some pics!!

NO ML = NO DVD

If you want the DVD option, and your dealer has no inventory with ML, you then need to Place a Special order for a Car with the Nav with Mark Levinson Package and Wait 3-5 Months.

Do a search for "Nav TV". A few people have had success using that device to integrate an external DVD changer.

If you can afford to wait for the ML option to become available or special order, I would do that. This all depends on how much you want to watch movies in while driving (LOL). I have seen how Passnu2's nav hack is, and It is not only crystal clear, but really needs the ML center channel to fully enjoy the mobile cinema experience.

Yeh Man!!! It makes a big nice difference for watching movies in the surround mode of the ML. Being in Passnu2's car, it blew me away. I was very impressed. He had "The Transporter 2" and it was amazing quality in not only clarity of the DVD picture on the screen, but the sound was like THX.

Do you have to have your car in park to watch movies, or can you be driving while watching a DVD movie?

Not with the Nav-hack and the ML. There is a DIY thread on Club Lexus and it is worth the work.

From the factory yes! But you can ground the red wire (shown in the Navi-Hack thread) to any point in the car and it will work while in motion Of course not very safe to do when driving
