I just got my Rvinyl redout kit yesterday and the directions seem straightforward but the steps aren't quite as easy as I expected. I don't have an exacto knife, isopropyl alcohol, or a hairdryer right now. I can get the first two at Target or whatever I suppose, but is the hairdryer necessary? If so, I'll probably have to wait a few months as I'm in college and have no outlets near my parking spaces.
I guess the question I'm trying to ask is: has anyone successfully applied their redouts without following the directions to the "t"? If so, how did you do it?
What's the temp where you're at? I applied mine with no hair dryer when it was 70 degrees out. Why didn't you buy them pre-cut?...then no exacto knife would be needed. I bought Rvinyl pre-cut, and they fit perfectly. Yes, make sure you clean your lights with rubbing alcohol then wipe the light dry with a lint free towel. Once you have the red-outs cut to size, apply them slowly and use a squeegee to smooth out any bubbles.
It's like 80 degrees today, and I did buy them precut, but the red area (which I assume IS precut) is surrounded by a white area on a square sheet. Do I just cut out around the red area?
The key is outside temp for the proper adherence. 70 degrees seems to be the minimum temp to apply. If air bubbles occur, they usually will be reduced in 3 days as the vinyl actually breaths. Often times, Rvinyl includes the plastic spatula type squeegee for removing excess bubbles. if not, no worries. You can work it ut with a soft cloth. Hairdryer is not neccessary in warmer weather, but can help in the application process.

Thanks for the help.
No you don't need to cut them. You peel the red area from the white area. It's like a sticker. I believe that's what you meant.
yah its precut like a sticker if they didnt give u a squeegee type thingy then just use a credit card or something flat and soft. make sure you add lots of water so you can kind of gauge where to put it.
By the way, I was considering getting a car wash and then applying the redouts immediately after. Is that a bad idea (does it have to be isopropyl alcohol?)
the alcohol just makes sure theres nothing there and it evaporates quickly :P and make sure you dont get fingerprints on it and try as best as u can to piece it right or else u will have creases i had to go through two sets to get it right lol
yeah, i had the same thing buda, on my right tail light i accidentally made a crease but luckily it was right on the edge and i was able to exactoknife the area that was messed up.
honestly, probably dont wanna do what i did, but all i did was clean the car, get lots of soap in some water, and use a starbucks card to apply the vinyl...no problems yet
better safe than sorry, so id probably do what everyone else is recommending
