Default Interior question

Im considering one of these color combinations:

Smoky Granite Mica & Black Trim w/ Metallic-Finish Accent
Or in Black (Obsidian) with Black Trim w/ Metallic-Finish Accent

http://www.lexus.com/models/IS/features/interior.html

The dealership claims there's no 2008 with the metallic finsh accent?

Is this true?

Per the dealership (Serramonte Lexus)

"Lexus no production with metallic finish accent, they all come with 1 small pieces of wood."

You can always get a model with the "wood look" and later apply some overlays to your likings.

The base model comes with the silver finish. The sport package I believe comes with the metallic finish.

I got mine with metallic finish. I just told the dealer to call me when they find a BLACK/BLACK sports package...it took them like 2 weeks but they got it from another dealer from jacksonville, Fl. It just depends on how desperate the dealer is and/or luck...they're might not be one for a while but i'm sure it'll turn up. Maybe in your location they get more wood trims.

If that's a direct quote from the dealership, run now. I refuse to give anyone $38k that communicates this poorly.

Yeah, the dealer is flat out lying to you.

The only cars with wood interior are cars with either the luxury package or the premium package. While many cars built have one of those, many others do not.

Base models, X package models, and sport package models, all come with metal trim.

The next question is--what does Lexus ship to your area? If they ship cars with the Premium Pkg, then by default, you won't be able to get it without wood. It would seem odd that 100% of their builds in your area have either premium or lux pkg, though. It may just be really hard to find them, and the salesman doesnt want to bother. Make him work a little.

Regardless of that, he can always get a car from another area, or simply special order the car exactly how he wants it (though from the dealer outright lying to him he'd probably want to try a different dealership to do either)

No Joke! I used to think the wood trim looked nice a few years back, but it is just played out now. Cheaper cars come with it now...i.e. Kia.

I really think it depends on the car... my wifes SC looks very nice with the wood trim... my IS I'm very happy I got the metal because I thought the wood looked completely out of place.
