Default Trunk button - useless, any help?

Hey guys, my problem simply is, my trunk button (interior and the one by the rear plate) does not respond when i push it. Now im reduced to using the key. I've searched for a thread if anyone had this problem, but no dice. i had my 5000 mile maintenance done last week. is there a simple fix like that of the power windows? or do i need to bring it back to the dealer? any advice is appreciated, thanks for the help!

Sounds like a trip to the dealer is needed for a fix under War

1. Open glove box.

2. Press valet switch.

He said that neither the interior nor exterior switch were working. Pretty unlikely that both would fail simultaneously. My money is on the switch in the glovebox.

To the OP, what terms did you search on? In "Search this forum" I tried "trunk lock", "trunk switch" and "trunk won't open" and all three of those brought up plenty of useful threads.

It's possible to have a loose harness as well. And yes, more than likely the glove box and this was the switch I was referring to.

Agreed, but to clarify, I'd put my money on "nothing broken", but that he just has the valet switch in the wrong position.

That is likely, I remember reading about this same issue on a couple of threads in the months past. One member had the dealer tell him the harness was not completely connected from the factory. I guess is can happen during assembly. Sounds like an easy fix. I don't think there is a personalized setting for the trunk unlock? Are you aware of this Bichon? You seem well versed on the dynamics of this vehicle and subsequently illustrate your knowledge in an altruistic fashion in order to advise other CL members.

check your fuses. specifically the trunk fuse to see if it has blown out.. the panel of fuses is below the steering column.
