I am too afraid to test them out so I was wondering how they work...

Yes, I don't know how to drive manual...

No need to be afraid... they're kind of novelty, actually. You don't need to know how to drive stick to use them, heh. You just press them when you want to upshift or downshift. It's really easy to do, and you can't really mess it up.

They are fun for the first couple minutes. OHHH The feeling of shifting. Then you realize that the computer shifts a whole lot better than you do... Rarely use them.

Let's say I shift the gear...

Does the computer take over from there and then downshift or upshift accordingly?

If you use your paddle shifters, when the RPM gets higher and you see the ring on your tachometer light up, pull back the right paddle. This will bring you to the next gear. Your car will help you shift automatically to a lower gear, but will not shift higher than the gear you select. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Why do you fear your car?

Test it.

Rule #1: don't redline the car; don't keep it in gear too long; upshift when necessary.

Rule #2: you don't really need to downshift -- the car will automatically downshift best for you.

So really all my job is to upshift?

How do I bring it back to fully automatic?

Well I am afraid of the car because I was going 100 MPH thinking I was only going 60. You can't feel **** in this car!!!

Yes.

For full automatic, simply toggle the shifter to the right (from S to D).

I tried it the other day, Is it normal for the display not to show a change of gear when down shifting? I went from gear 4 and at the stop sign, the display never changed, but it did change gears.

this is right and if you don't wont to use the paddle shifter then flip it over to auto the n it doesn't damage the car at all

.

The way i see it is that if ur going up the gears, let the computer handle hit ( keep in D) and use the paddle/s-mode, when ur coming to a halt to help with braking, or for my fav, when attacking a corner drop the car into the right gear before you enter into it , so you can power your way throughout the corner. Maybe its just me but thats about the only use i get out of the gear box is the downshift and gear hold ( Both of which i use on a daily drive basis).

Yes. The gear it shows is the "max"/top gear you are allowing the tranny to use.

Just because you have it on "Gear 4" means that it can be in either Gear 1 thu 4...
