Hopefully their will be some kind of recall on the battery in the near future. Basically what the Tec rep said is that, with the multiple computers and all the electrical crap in the car, the stock battery is not up for what it is needed for. I think its kind of ridiculous that in a lot of modern high end cars like Lexus, BMW, ect, come with crappy wet cell batteries. This is very old technology in comparison to modern Lithium Ion batteries, or even dry cell batteries like Optima's. It really comes down to saving a few dollars when ever they can, if it only cost the car companies $20 for a wet cell battery apposed to a $50 dry cell then they are going to go with the cheaper of the two.
Don't look for a recall on the battery, it is not going to happen. It is not the batteries fault, it is the design of the electrical systems that draw current keeping all systems awake while the car sits. And the market wants all these gadgets, so Lexus gives them to us. But it comes at a cost, in this case continuous draw on the battery. They aren't going to put cutting edge batteries in that cost more money and aren't readily available on the secondary market as a replacement item. Everything is a tradeoff; dry cell batteries have their own issues.

My car sits for weeks at a time and I keep it on a Battery Tender which keeps it fully charged without the possibility of overcharging it. It's a simple solution. Here is a DIY: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=318091
