Has anyone done a total audio conversion in this car yet? Has any company created a faceplate so an after market head unit can be used? I plan on using 2 amplifiers along with front 6.5 w/tweeters & leaving the rear stock since a set of 6.5's cant fit. Also plan on created a ported box with a 12 inch sub.

I have the full ML system so I haven't and wont change anything on mine.

 

You can certainly swap out everything (though you need to keep the brains of the factory head unit wired in someplace for the A/C to work)...

But I don't believe anyone makes a dash kit for the 2IS (the faceplate so the head unit fits right)... far as I know everyone who has done a different head unit did a custom install (or just left gaps in the dash)

 

i think it you have the non navi there is a kit that goes just below the radio/ac/ect...do a search as i have seen many pics on here. May be custom but atleast it can be done if you want to get all crazy with it.

The biggest problem to me with the stock system is the lack of rear deck speakers like the ML.
I can hardly hear the rear in door speaker.
Unfortuneatly,bringing the rears up doesn't improve the sound.

 

Im happy with the ML system. Only thing i get, along with my last few cars, is the sub rattle from playing the music so loud. Makes it sound like the sub is blow. I had a TL that they worked on rattles and all this stuff and the car was just 10 times worse so i dont want to bother with the sub and taking more stuff apart unless it goes out.

Sounds really good when i put a DVD movie in!

 

Does anyone know if there is a custom dash kit for our cars yet? Also how much would an install place charge for a custom install where the stock head unit would need to be moved?

Does anyone know how much a good price is for a full install with the front CD playerremoved? I plan to shop around & see what the different audio shops offer. Please post prices for full install with front cd player moved to glove comp.
