Default replaced out my engine cover clips

Well after taking my engine cover apart so many times, the OEM clips started to wear out and not seem to secure the panels as well they should anymore...

I decided to swap them out for these self-locking bumper foot :

http://www.keyelco.com/pdfs/p84.pdf

Surprisingly looks very OEM-Like...

The rubber foot (santoprene) seems to grab onto the panels very well, and there's hardly any inter-panel movement anymore.

That is what Lexus should have used in the first place, those look like they last. Maybe there can be a group buy?

Those are nice. Ditto on the group buy. I lost one recently and went down to my local lexus dealership and they wanted $5 for one. I didn't feel like bending over so I might check out Toyota to see if they have them.

It looks like you push down the center to release them like the 06' clips.

Take a flat head and pry at the edge, they pop out pretty easily....

Pretty much the whole thing is made of rubber so there's not really a worry of anything snapping like plastic...

Are you driving around with your hood off? Quite frankly, the plastic clips for the engine covers are completely unnecessary - they're not going anywhere, and only serve an aesthetic purpose. Of course, that's assuming you're driving with the hood on... I know, I know, you're probably a perfectionist like me and if you're missing one it would bug the living $#IT out of you.

thought the engine covers where in place for cooling?? I drove around for 2 days with them off when i installed the *Dumbo Mirrors with turn signals* and didnt see any changes. I put them all back on already but just curious why you are running with them off?
