I'm voting 5 even though I've had a few issues with rattles in the dash.

The quailty of materials is second to none. It doesnt seem like any expenses were spared in making it a great car. Rattles pop up on almost every car. The dash insulation didnt seem to be designed for extremely cold weather and needed to be fixed. Adding a little felt here and there doesn't make it poor build quality in my opinion.

And mechanically...come on...so smooth, so quiet, so niiiiice!

I gave a 4 as well because I am dissapointed that Lexus did not rectify the dash issues for 2007 and 2008. Furthermore, everyone seems to have issues with the external rubber trim, headliner squeeks and brake dust. My TSIB pads should have been standard equipment on the 2007. They are so much better at reducing dust and also, the brakeing efficiency was not sacrificed. Don't get me wrong, I love the car, but for $35+, these issues should not be evident.

I am starting to spend allot of time fixing rattles...
It only has 12k...If this was isolated, I would think differently, but it seems to be across the board from what I'm reading.
What will it be like @ 50k miles?

Compared to other cars on the road in general?

Or compared to its competitors such as the 3-Series or C-Class?

Or compared to other Lexus models?

I voted 2 because of rattles in the dashboard and everytime I go over a little bump I hear something rattling inside the "B" pillar.

Now I am starting to notice my dash board color is starting to fade or something...weird!!!

Initially when I bought my car, I would say 4.5 out of 5 but after a few yrs of aging it is starting to show. Oh yeah...my dam front breaks squeals pretty loud and I notice the engine is ticking louder than before. Dam..I only have around 35,000 kms and the car is aging fast...LOL!!!

I'd say a 4. I have some kind of ticking in the B pillar when the weather is warm. Other than that, everything's good.

Doesn't mean the engine is built poorly. You won't notice it if you have the doors closed, are moving, or if your volume anywhere past 2.

Half the people on here, including myself, probably didn't even notice it until they read it on here

I rated it a 5, its my personal belief that everyone is taking things for granted. the designers couldnt accomodate all the scenarios, climates, rattles, and bad habits of drivers. I mean we are all driving around 40k cars that the rest of the general public drools over. This car will last 10+yrs 200k miles without any major problems or even minor problems Sure there will be a IS here there with its problems, but can we honestly say that about the rest of the cars out there. There always exceptions out there. but if you take a step back and look around at the cars on the road with you. I can tell you that 90% of the cars on the road wont last as nearly as long as our cars. not to mention those cars arent worth nearly as much as they were prior to rolling off the lot.

why do you think toyota corp is #2 in the world if they havent already achieved the #1 status?
