Default How low do you go?

I never let my gas get below a quarter of a tank in my IS.... I heard it is bad to let your car get completely on empty before refilling.

How low do you let your gas get before refilling at the gas station?

Usually about 1/8th of a tank then I fill up.. But the other day I filled up early cause a gas station had set a few pumps wrong and 91 was pumping at 2.54 a gal.

No less than 1/4 of a tank. In the winter in Chicago, no less than half due to potential frezzing and having the extra weight of a full tank helps a small bit with traction.

You got lucky! I wish that mistake would happen in Bakersfield. We're almost at $4.00/gal for 91.

Half a tank for me. The last power outage that occurred in Michigan and Ohio . . . well, pretty much our entire region up here in pot hole kingom convinced me to keep my cars as full as possible whenever possible. lol Some might think this is paranoia or pretty much an **** attitude but until you see the grid lock and lines 5 miles long at Gas stations with generators you'll know what I'm talking about. heh heh

I just love how many people will wait in looooong lines, motors running at Costco for non Top Tier gas at only a marginal discount.

I run mine down till the light comes on most of the time because our lights come on sooooo early. Plus, I drive in a big territory and so gas prices can really fluctuate depending on the city and county. As for the price, I am paid the federal rate of 50.5 cents per mile so it doesn't really affect me much, although I keep hoping that with higher prices people will start driving less so I won't have as much traffic to deal with.

run mine till the light comes on in general.

Have gotten as low as a range of 7 miles a couple of times trying to get to a specific gas station close to my destination. usually between 1/4 tank and gas light

passnu2/gsrthomas you some bravehearts! 20+ miles past zero!

Now I wonder if I have older gas that I rarely reach at the bottom of the tank. LOL. Naw, I am sure it all gets mixed in.

damn, at least I know that I may be able to go a lot extra after seemingly being out of gas.
