Default Glass Breakage sensor and Remote Start.

I was at the dealership today and i looked at the brochure for the new 08 accessories. I came upon these.

these were under for the LX, so im wondering if we can get these installed in our IS'. Doesn't the LX have the same push button start? So why shouldnt it work with our car?

I think sewell posted this in the vendor forum but said lexus recalled the remote start? But i would love a OEM remote start and the intrusion sensors that everyone is trying to find..

i read somewhere that it was interfering with the LX front and side cams, we dont have those, so i guess it should work once they start selling them again.

Glass breakage sensor

Utilizing sensitive microphones that listen for the pitch of breaking glass, the Lexus glass breakage sensor will activate the factory-installed security system in the event the vehicle's glass is broken.

Remote engine starter

It starts the engine from outside your vehicle. It's fully integrated into your vehicle's factory security system, so there's no need for a separate remote or wiring. It will also activate your air conditioner, heater and windshield defogger.

Haha, I've been working on this (08 LX remote starter) for a couple of weeks. Stay tuned.

The GBS, in particular, sounds like a great idea to me, but can't you defeat this by just using a towel or t-shirt pressed up against the glass when you break it?

Neither of those solutions would evade the GB sensor. The quickest and easiest method of breaking car glass is with an automatic center punch.

You just put the tip on the glass and push on the body. A spring inside compresses and releases so it makes a very light click. The glass shatters instantly, but because it's safety glass, it just spiders. A real jerk could take out all the windows in a car as quickly as he could walk around it.

At any rate, when the glass shatters it makes a high frequency sound unique to glass breaking. This is what the GB sensor listens for. It can't be masked if the glass breaks.

ive heard of people using those little gadgets.. that you just push up to the window and it makes a little pop and shatters all of the glass.. isnt really loud, they are for emergencey situations when you need to get out of your car... i wonder if those would set off the alarm

edit.. ha we posted at the same time.. but ya that was what i was talking about
