You can turn it off in Drive mode as long as you are at a complete stop.. Park Mode is not required..
Now if you are rolling... (low speeds) the Trac will turn off and then turn back on, once the 15-25mph mark is passed..

on my 06 if i just hit the butten it turns it off bt if u go faster then 30mph it comes back on. to turn it off completey u have to do the brake and parking park dance.

If I'm not mistaken the defeat switch was offered on the 07 + 08 models. If you momentarily press the switch it will disable the traction control (only) until you reach a certain speed. If you press and hold the switch you disable both the traction control and VSC but after that certain speed the traction control will enable itself. (not the VSC)

Sorry.. you have it mostly right.. however, your last sentence is Incorrect....

...BOTH remain disabled.

Has anyone found a way to bypass the auto-on feature on the TCS defeat on the '06? Clip a VSS wire like we do on our Nav maybe? I don't care for the brake dance...
