Selling IS350
Moving on to an 08 rubicon, dealership said the max they would give me for my 2007 IS350 with nav and 7500 miles on was $28,500. thats a loss of about 13,000 within 5 months Any suggestions? I've been told to try CarMAx. Thanks.

CARMAX is now giving LESS than trade-in value in my area....Houston.
don't waste your time there either.
just sold my 350 to an individual for $34000 (06 lux pkg+nav, 9400mi)

That is way to little for ur trade. Can i ask why u are going to a Rubicon???? Tell the dealership to come up on the trade or its a no go. They will budge.... they always do.

Same goes for the Chicago market. I have a buddy who works for Carmax and he said they have been not giving anything for buyouts anymore. They wanted to give me 8k for my 2001 IS300 in mint condition whereas the dealer gave me $12,000 on a trade-in and this equates to more with the tax benefit. Use autotrader, and it should sell asap.

Doubtful they will...and if they do, they will charge more for the new car. They dont HAVE to take a trade in...and if they do, its ONLY on their terms. Sell it by yourself....I was offered $14,000 for my Porsche in trade...Sold it for $32,000 private party less than 30 days later.

Thanks for yalls replys I guess I will attempt to sell it by myself. HAs anyone tried cars.com before? My only problem is I'm more of a I want it now kind of person so waiting a couple months is going to be painful. I want the rubicon because I've always wanted one. Plus, the decrease in insurance will be nice as well.

In SoCal, trade in < Carmax < private party.
For my Honda, it was $3000 < $4500 < probably $5500. We went the carmax route because the car had some issues and I didn't want to stick someone I knew with a problematic car.

If you list your IS350 for $34k you should be able to sell it quickly. Your aren't going to wait 3 months to sell it.
Why did you get the IS350 if you always wanted a Rubicon?? Why didn't you just purchase the Rubi first? You dont like the IS350?

I used craigslist for my '92 Sentra. It may not be the best place for your nearly new and pricey Lexus, though. It's free, so maybe try it. You can post up to 4 pictures as well. There's probably 50 cars a day popping up in my town, but most are cheaper cars. You just need the right person to see the ad, regardless of where you list.
