Overnight Test Drive
In most parts of the country the IS350 is still a relatively rare car at most dealer's. There is usually one or two in stock, but the dealers aren't flooded with them. So don't know how cheap they will be later this year. CA is a completely different market than the rest of the country. Latest indications are the economy will not go in the tank, and there are always people with money to buy cars like Lexus in good times and bad.
Hmm, we probably disagree on where the market is headed. I hope you are the right one though...
And I disagree that there are always people with money to buy Lexi.... Look at this board and the number of people right on the edge of their payment... They disappear really quickly when the economy heads south.
One good metric to see if Lexus is too much car for a person to afford. If the upcoming tax rebate check makes even a short term difference in your life, and let's you buy something you otherwise would not have been able to afford, then you are buying too much car...
OT off...
We only get ES loaners in Cleveland. And it definitely has a huge power difference over my 2.5L. Except you feel like a grandma and when you hit the throttle you go all over the road with the Front wheel drive haha.
Thank you sirkfc! I didn't know that the IS 350 could be had for under invoice.
I have been enjoying the compliant, yet sporty suspsension of the IS 250, but it just doesn't have the get-up-and-go like my Avalon does. The more that I drive the IS 250, the more I want the IS 350. As I mentioned before, I am not in dire need of a new car, so I will see if I can wait until December to snag an IS 350.
As far as the Atlanta market goes, I believe there is more supply than demand at the moment for the IS. I know my local dealer's inventory pretty well and have noticed that a gorgeous SGM/black IS 350 with Z1, PT, HL, NV, LR, and FT has been sitting on the lot for at least a month. Maybe people are shopping the BMW 335i and Mercedes C350 at the moment?

Yes, that car does have some torque steer issues, but that is FWD with a high output motor for you. Sometimes, it is nice to feel like a grandma!!!
Another thing i didn't like about the ES loaner I just had, was the engine vibe/shaking at a stop. My old man's Camry feels the same. The transverse mount v6 just constantly makes a vibration enough to shake the mirrors on the ES.
