Lexus warranty sucks
A friend of mine has an 04 Nissan 350Z. His mods include a full exhuast, headers, pullies, an intake, an intake manifold, flywheel, new cams, a sport clutch plus some other stuff that i can't even remember. Its not turboed or anything like that, but he has an insane amount of mods on his car. He took his car into Nissan because he was having some problems. THEY KEPT HIM UNDER WARRANTY and gave him a brand new transmission for free no questions asked.
I have an 07 IS350 with an intake on it....thats it...The tanabe is an axle back so thats not in question right now. I took my car into Lexus to have them check out the clicking noise (which i know is perfectly normal) and the service guy goes, "Oh man you've clearly modified your engine, we can't even touch this. It's a good thing i caught this before the technicians did because your warranty would be voided." ITS AN INTAKE..I haven't supercharged it or anything...what the hell?
Have you guys had any experience like that?

wth ? which dealer is that ? i got 100K warranty & an intake on my GS300 and took it to Cerritos dealer, the service guy didn't say anything at all. I went there 3 times and none of the service guys say anything about 'void your warranty'. thats BS. Sorry to hear that Letsrunem.
go to another dealer.
go to another dealer.
Well thats what i wanted to do but the service guy was like this voids your whole engine warranty and once i put that into the computer, all lexus dealerships in California will see it. So i had to take my intake off and bring it back...they told me everything was ok...and i had to put my INjen back on
they can only void the warranty if they can prove that the after market parts you used caused the damage. its under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act .

It all depends what kind of service writer you have and the relationship established with them...
If you don't mind, which dealership was this??
Your title should read "My Lexus Service Writer Sucks"

So far, I haven't had any warranty issues with all the aftermarket items on my IS, but when I took it in a few weeks ago to have rattles fixed -the service advisor made a note in my file that future rattle issues may not be fixed because of my modified suspension (lowering springs). Hate to see Lexus become less customer oriented and more cost conscious. That approach has worked so well for the big 3 lately.
My service manager loves that i hook up my car and is always interested on what i've done to it each time i bring it in. Pretty cool relationship, i asked him if he makes notes in the cars file about the stuff he said "We've build a relationship starting with your GS400 come on do you think i'd do that to ya." Hes my service guy for life!
Yep yep,
They are the only game in town unfortunately. they next closest dealer is about 2 hours away.
just curious which writer wrote you up Letsrunem? pm his name.
May be i can point you to a different writer.
BTW they can void anything if all the smog equipment is on it. If your intake has all the connection hooked to the OBDII system your good!
Let me know if i can help. I have had a lot of dealing with them.
