Official Interior Overlay Thread
If you pull that center piece and take a pic of the "real" wood & post it here to show me - I'll believe you.
Unless Lexus is putting real wood in some cars as an option, my wood interior sure as hell isn't real wood - it's all plastic.

I thought the same thing... OK at least i'm not going insane.
It's a thin piece of REAL wood laid on top of plastic (which is why when you flip it over it looks like plastic) that has a clearcoat/resin over it to give it that gloss look. This is why the wood grain is different in every car, because wood grains are unique.
as brociouz has stated, it's indeed REAL wood. call lexus and inquire hardy boy style and do some investigative work online -- the lexus website lists on the interior options page for the IS "espresso birds-eye maple interior accents". edmunds and a number of other reputable websites back this up. if it were simulated, they'd be legally obligated to state it (see bmw and their 328i "leatherette" interior). it's def real wood.

Just wrapped my gross wood grain stock trim pieces with 3M 2080 "Brushed Steel." It was super easy, only cost $25 from rvinyl.com, and I have plenty left over. It really sparkles after replacing the interior light bulbs with 6000K LEDs. I can't decide if it clashes with the other gray trim pieces. I may also try the "Brushed Black Metallic" color in the 2080 series since it's so cheap and easy. I'm just glad the wood grain and yellow lights are gone; they made me nauseous.
