Default Tahoe Trip

Hey guys, I need your opinions...

Im planning a Tahoe trip this weekend but we still haven't found a car to drive up there. Too scary to drive up there. If i had the AWD, i'd take it without questioning but i don't... should i take my car? safe? yay or nay?

yeah plus in tahoe around new years you have a bunch of idiots. Also, it will be so packed you will have trouble parking. You will end up parking some place that will leave you with a door ding. Plus people just get nuts there on NYE. I would rent a ride, and check before you drive to see if the pass is open.

I saw a blue IS350 with UCLA frames (anyone here?) parked in the parking lot of the ski resort I went to this past weekend in Tahoe. At first I thought it was a 250 AWD but it was a 350 so I guess it can make it there safely if you drive carefully and it is not snowing heavily. I wouldn't, however, since it is NYE you are better off renting a SUV or something AWD.

aren't front wheel drive cars better in these conditions anyway because the extra weight from the engine on the front wheels than rear wheel drive, front engine mounted?

As long as you have dedicated snow tires, you should be fine. But I would get a rental is that was my IS350 we were discussing.

I went up to Tahoe when I first got my car with stock dunlop, it wasn't good at all... but I had factory snow chain and that worked out fine.
